The government has approved a new Level 3 HR apprenticeship standard for delivery - a move that’s bound to be welcomed by businesses across the board. 

Details of the new Level 3 Human Resources Apprenticeship Standard 

Following on the back of this month’s earlier release of the Level 5 HR standard, the Level 3 apprenticeship standard for HR support has been in development since August last year and has seen some of the country’s biggest employers participate in its creation, including: level 3 human resources apprenticeship

  • Lloyds Bank
  • Marks and Spencer’s
  • McDonald’s UK
  • Volvo 

We’ve been delivering the current HR apprenticeship framework to large employers across the country for several years and have been eagerly awaiting the publication of equivalent standards. We envision it being a popular option for employers looking for relevant training to use their Apprenticeship Levy funds on. 

It’s primarily designed for HR support professionals in medium-to-large organisations or HR managers in smaller firms. The standard aims to provide skills and competencies around key issues, such as: 

  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Managing HR information
  • Personal development on HR legal, policy and process changes
  • Problem solving
  • Process improvement
  • Service delivery 

Core skills around HR function, legislation and policy will be developed, as well as a deep understanding of systems and processes. level 3 hr apprenticeship standard

The assessment plan for the standard also contains several suggested qualifications and specialist units that employers can use to make sure their apprentice develops an in-depth, technical understanding of the field. 

Those who successfully complete the standard and suggested qualifications will also be entitled to apply for associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) - opening the path for further career development and diversification. 

How long will it take and how much will it cost? 

The standard is expected to take 18-to-24 months to complete and it sits in funding band 7, with a maximum cap of £5,000 per apprentice.
