Dear all,

You are probably aware of the tragic news of events at the Manchester Arena last night where a number of people have been killed and injured. The gravity of this event cannot be overstated and our thoughts are with those directly affected, their family and friends.

For those of you reading this at home, if you usually travel in to Manchester city centre, please be aware that as a result of the incident, no trains or trams will be calling at Victoria Station and emergency road closures mean there is likely to be delays to car journeys in and around the city centre. Please check with the local bus, rail and tram operators before you travel this morning at www.tfgm.com or avoid the city centre altogether.

The cause of this incident is slowly becoming clearer; however, it is very much a moving investigation so please be vigilant if you are moving around the city centre today. If you have any concerns please call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321.  For official updates please follow Greater Manchester Police on social media and encourage others to do so too.

This is also going to be a hard and difficult time for many of you and your families. The emergency number for those concerned about loved ones or anyone who may have been in the area is 0161 856 9400.

If you have been affected please contact your tutor or assessor in the first instance.

I will endeavour to keep you informed.
